Clinical Nutrition Coordinator, Department of Surgery

 

Verona Somarriba is a Registered and Certified Dietitian Nutritionist. She is the resident dietitian for the Department of General Surgery at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and speaks fluent Spanish. She received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Architectural Design from Parsons School of Design in New York. She completed the Didactic Program in Dietetics at New York University and earned her Master’s in Science degree from Florida International University in Dietetics and Nutrition, with emphasis on Clinical Research. Her graduate research project was featured as a Poster Presentation at the 2013 Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior Annual Conference on intuitive eating. Verona completed her Dietetic Internship at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri under the supervision of Saint Louis University’s Department of Dietetics & Nutrition.


Verona has worked as a nutrition consultant, writing and designing educational material for companies, brands, and nationally recognized health organizations. She joined the Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai in 2017.
